Local products, taverns, showcookings, music and entertainment, poetry, hiking, conferences and, of course, mushrooms and arbutus, in the form of brandy, fruit or jams and sweets. These are the main ingredients of the XI Mushroom and Medronho Fair, which takes place on the weekend of November 25th and 26th, in the village of São Barnabé, in Almodôvar.
The program includes, on Saturday, at 15:00 pm, the demonstration of distillation of Aguardente de Medronho (in the courtyard of the São Barnabé Primary School), which is followed, half an hour later, by the colloquium “Aguardente de Medronho – from Distillation to Legalization”, at the PROVERE Tent.
The first day of the event also pays a lot of attention to popular poetry, particularly to local poets, with the opening of the Exhibition “Popular Poets of São Barnabé” (São Barnabé Primary School, 14:00), the presentation of the book “Poesia de Almodôvar” – Popular Poets of São Barnabé” (Provere Tent, 14:30 pm) and also the Meeting of Popular Poets of Serra do Caldeirão (Restoration Tent, 20:00).
Sunday, the 26th, starts with the walking tour “Por rails da Serra” (10:00 am). At 11:30 am, in Tenda PROVERE, the colloquium on “The importance of mycology in the mountain flora” takes place.
At 15:00 pm, the presentation of the book “Caderno Técnico 02 – Medronheiro” (Tenda PROVERE) begins.
In between, there will be a lot of music with folklore groups, singing groups, the March of São Barnabé, Tuna da Universidade Sénior de Almodôvar, among others. On both days, the night closes with a ball.
