Three students from the University of the Algarve (UALG) participated in a training for trainers in non-formal education that the Algarve organization ECOS promoted between 3 and 10 October in Cape Verde, in partnership with organizations from this and six other countries from various continents.

The “Capacit-A! Promoting the political participation of young women through new pedagogical approaches” took place in the Cape Verdean city Assomada and brought together participants from Portugal, Cape Verde, East Timor, Peru, Mozambique, the United Kingdom and France.

This initiative was carried out within the scope of the international project “PatHERways: Creating new pathways for the political participation of young women” promoted by the cooperative ECOS, which had its first international event in the city of Faro in March.

«For 6 days, the group of participants had the opportunity to share the challenges that young women face in each of their countries, reflect on the necessary conditions for an effective participation and empowerment of young women and develop their skills as multipliers and facilitators of change processes in each of its communities”, according to ECOS – Cooperative of Education, Cooperation and Development.

From the Algarve, Social Education students Tiago Antunes and Cátia Nascimento and Maria Aparecida dos Santos, who are developing the HeForShe movement at the University of Algarve – Movement for Gender Equality, headed to Cape Verde. under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development launched by UN Women.

This movement will be officially launched on the 24th of October, at UAlg's Penha Campus, in Faro.
