Mauro Amaral has no doubts: «I feel that there are good things on the way and that everything will improve from here on». The musician from Faro is one of the Algarve's representatives on the F Festival poster, which began yesterday, August 31st and lasts until Saturday, September 2nd, in Vila-Adentro de Faro, and already had the opportunity to take the stage, this Thursday, to perform in one of the biggest musical events in the region.

For this artist, as well as for the people from the Algarve Gallop and Riding a Meteor, which take to the stage today and tomorrow, performing at a festival with the dimension of F is not only a recognition of the work done, but an opportunity to give a boost to the career.

“I think it is very important to open the doors to artists in the region. For me, as they calculate, it's a huge satisfaction to be here so shortly after having released my first EP», defended the artist, who was invited by the organization to be present in a session held this Monday, which served to make known the last details of the festival.

«Playing here is a validation. I feel that there is already more affection in the city towards me and greater respect, because I was “stamped” with the seal of an event of extreme quality, such as F, to be more dedicated to national music», said the Algarve musician.

Mauro Amaral tried to make the most of the opportunity he was given, because it is not easy for an artist from the region to be chosen to perform at this festival, despite the Chamber of Faro, who organizes the event, make a point of having “home silver” in the program.

“I think there should be even more openness. I have the greatest respect for the work being done, but I think there is a very small quota of musicians in the region, something that should be reviewed, as I have already openly said to the organization. I hope that my presence and that of Galopim and Riding a Meteor will serve to open even more the doors to projects in the Algarve», he said.

The idea of being able to be present at a festival with the dimension of F has served as an incentive to many Algarve bands to work harder, believes Mauro Amaral. But, like everything else, there is the flip side of the coin.

“Often, not being present is what discourages us a lot, because we see people from all over the country coming and we, who work with originals, end up being left out. It can be demotivating», he believes.

Despite defending that there is still work to be done, Mauro Amaral considers that he is "on the right path". “We are trying to grow together. Sometimes things take longer than artists need. For us, the anxiety of showing our work and being positive about it is great», he said.

For Mauro Amaral, this anxiety has passed, at least for now. It now remains to wait for the “good things” that he expects will happen.
