The Seafood Festival of Olhão, the “F”, in Faro, or the Medieval Fair of Silves are part of “Guia Algarve”, the monthly publication of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA), for August.

This is, thus, a program “full of events”.

The photographic highlight on the cover «reveals an unmissable suggestion for fans of the 1980s and reggae music: to sing the chorus of “Red, red wine” and so many other hits at the concert of British band UB40. It's already on Saturday, the 5th, at Pine Cliffs Resort, in Albufeira», says RTA.

The Seafood Festival, in Olhão, and FATACIL, in Lagoa, are the other events highlighted in the August guide. In one case, for six days (10 to 15), an immense seafood sanctuary emerges on the edge of the Ria Formosa to present the sayings in their wide variety and traditionally cooked, all punctuated with lots of music.

In the other, it is handicraft that joins regional gastronomy and products and concerts with national artists for ten long days of celebration (18 to 27).

In August, the summer concerts with more or less famous performers multiply: Maria Gadu in Tavira (2), Cuca Rosetta in Portimão (5) and in Faro, at Festival F (at 31), Seu Jorge in Olhão (15), Mariza, in Castro Marim (19), Carminho, in Lagoa (24), and dozens of other musical performances are scheduled to take place throughout the region.

There are still proposals for theatre, photography exhibitions, painting and sculpture and dance events, and art in evidence with the realization of “FolkFaro”, meeting point of peoples, cultures and traditions of the world, expressed in music and choreographies, with shows from 19 to 27, in Faro.

The gastronomy events go beyond the shellfish from Olhão and elect sardines as the queen of a festival with traditions in Portimão. The giant roaster opens on the 2nd, in the riverside area.

And it's in August that you can travel back in time, back to the Middle Ages: first at the Medieval Fair of Silves (11th to 20th) and then on the Medieval Days of Castro Marim (from the 23rd to the 27th) there are kings, queens, jousting and knights dressed with all rigor. Evening dresses is also the motto of the original White Night in Loulé, which returns on the last Saturday of the month (26).

RTA's bilingual publication (Portuguese and English) has 32 pages and a circulation of 70 copies, distributed free of charge at tourist offices, airport, hotels, travel agencies, rent-a-car and golf courses in the region.
