The Chamber and the Rotary Club of Faro signed a protocol last week that intends to put students from schools in the county to «See well to learn better».

According to the Chamber of Faro.

The agreement signed on 10 May aims to «promote therapy and re-education among students in the municipality of Faro with visual impairments during the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 Rotary years».

A service that, the municipality believes, will be decisive for the «development and educational success» of its beneficiaries.

«The local authority, through its Department of Social Action and Education, will be responsible for surveying students with vision problems/impairments, subsequently carrying out the socio-economic analysis of households requesting support. Rotary will be responsible for carrying out the necessary steps to financially support the acquisition of glasses/rims and/or lenses, as well as for the referral to carry out previous ophthalmological consultations for a correct diagnosis and prescription of the measures to be taken with each student", he explained the Chamber of Faro.

The protocol is valid until June 30, 2018 and renewable for the following year. "The support to be provided has a maximum annual limit of €1.000 and only in exceptional cases will the Rotary provide financial support more than once to the same student," he added.
Those interested in this new program can contact the Department of Social Action and Education of the City Council by calling 289 870 869 or by email [email protected].
