The Iberian Campaign for the Prevention of Accidents at Work will be presented on the 26th of April, as part of the seminar “Working safely, at 10:00 am, in the Auditorium of the Museum of Portimão.

This presentation will be given by José Banaco, labor inspector of the Labor Conditions Authority (ACT).

The aim of this campaign is even “to promote the reduction of accidents at work”.

“Every year more than 4000 workers die in Europe and 160 in Portugal. The reduction of accidents at work is one of the main objectives of the European Strategic Framework for Health and Safety at Work 2014 – 2020, as well as of the Health and Safety at Work Strategies in Spain and Portugal», explains ACRAL, one of the promoters of the event.

The seminar, which also intends to celebrate the National Day of Prevention and Safety at Work, which is celebrated on April 28, is aimed at traders, businessmen, security technicians, as well as «all who have people in their charge and feel the need to know more about the characterization and framework of safety legislation, work accidents and also what can be done to prevent them», explains ACRAL.

The initiative is promoted by the ACRAL secretariats of Portimão, Lagoa, Silves and Monchique, as well as by ACT, the Firefighters of Portimão, the Municipal Civil Protection Service of the Portimão Council, the Parish Council of Portimão, the National Protection Authority Civil and is supported by the Support Center for the Elderly of Portimão, the Escola Profissional Gil Eanes and the socialgar Insurance

Outside the Portimão Museum there will be an exhibition of means and resources of civil protection and actions for the use of fire extinguishers and basic life support by the Firefighters of Portimão.
