The "Municipal Architecture and Landscape Architecture Award" of Faro is back, with applications open until this Friday, March 31st.

With the objective of «promoting and encouraging architectural quality» and dignifying the «urban image» public and private entities and the authors of architecture and landscape architecture projects of the works who have obtained authorization for use in the last three can compete for this award years old.

The prize will be distributed in three distinct sections: “Obra Nova”, “Recovery/Rehabilitation” and “External Spaces”. The winner of each section will win 1500 euros.

The “Municipal Architecture and Landscape Architecture Award” had already seen its draft regulation approved by the municipality and the Municipal Assembly, in 2012, but “due to financial constraints” it had not yet been implemented.

Established in 1995 by the Chamber of Faro with the aim of encouraging good practices in this discipline and contributing to the improvement of the environmental and built quality of the municipality, this distinction also aims at «dignifying the urban image, valuing and distinguishing the most relevant works at the municipal level and safeguarding the heritage of the county'.

However, with the passage of time, this award stopped being held regularly, now taking up again with a novelty: the inclusion of landscape architecture as one of the disciplines to be distinguished.
