After the «Radiant», it was now the turn of «Yas». First, the 7th most expensive yacht in the world, valued at 258 million euros, now the 6th most expensive, which should be around 300 million euros. Both passed through the Algarve waters in recent days, having been berthed at the commercial wharf of the Port of Portimão.

When yesterday the «Yas» entered the Arade estuary, the many people who were on the beaches of Rocha and Grande, on both sides of the river, rushed to photograph this colossus of the seas… and of luxury. And the procession in honor of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, which takes place in the Arade departing from Ferragudo, ended up with an unusual backdrop.

The «Radiant», 365 feet long (about 110 meters, the length of a football field) and 19 meters wide, has a helipad, sonic weapons and water jets capable of sinking any vessel that approaches.

Before reaching Portimão, it was anchored in front of the beaches of Vilamoura, coming from Ibiza. Accommodates 16 passengers, served by a crew of 44 people.

It belonged to Boris Berezovsky, the Russian millionaire found dead in 2013, who previously sold it to the current owner, Abdulla Al Futtaim, the 4th richest in the UAE.

Abdulla Al Futtaim still occupies the 549th position in the ranking of the richest in the world and his fortune is estimated at more than 2,8 billion euros, according to Forbes magazine. His fortune comes from the distribution businesses of the Toyota and Honda car brands in the United Arab Emirates, as well as franchises from Ikea, Toys 'R' Us, among others.

As for "Yas", it is owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nikh al Nahyan, fourth son of the late Emir of Abu Dhabi and founder of the United Arab Emirates. He is half brother of the current emir. He was former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the UAE. The yacht must have been named after his son Yas bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The «Yas» is 141 meters long (463 feet) and was handed over to its owner in 2013. It was built in the shipyards of Abu Dhabi, using the hull of an old Dutch Royal Navy frigate as a base. It has accommodation for 60 passengers, with a crew of 56 people.

Its hull has been combined with a glass structure, which gives it a very futuristic look. It is equipped with a helipad, spa, leisure area, among many other amenities.
