The Festa do Pontal 2016 is scheduled for next Sunday, starting at 19:30 pm, at Calçadão de Quarteira. In the traditional PSD party, which marks the rentree Social Democrats' policy, party leader Pedro Passos Coelho will be present.
The Festa do Pontal took place for the first time on August 29, 1976 in Pinhal do Pontal in Faro and counted with the presence of Francisco Sá Carneiro.
According to the PSD, in a note sent to newsrooms, "it was in the 80s, with Cavaco Silva, that the concept of rentrée was consecrated, with the leaders' speech being the moment when the themes of the next political year were launched."
In this year's edition, Pedro Passos Coelho will be for the seventh time as president of the PSD at Festa do Pontal.
