Olhão was the stage for several days of filming for the next SIC soap opera, “Rainha das Flores”, which premieres on May 9th.
The 35-person team from SP Televisão, producer of the telenovela, visited the markets of Olhão, Cais T, Ilha da Armona, Ria Formosa, the fishing port, Largo da Restauração and the local CP station.
Actors Isabel Abreu (Narcisa), Luís Garcia (Bruno) and Pêpê Boyote (Daniel) starred in several scenes in Olhão, the place that starts the story of Narcissa and her son. It is here that mother and son live, who are dedicated to collecting shellfish in the Ria Formosa.
Bitter at the way life has treated her, Narcissa believes that everything that has happened to her is her sister Rosa's fault. Bruno, the son, is a dreamer. He just wants to be free and choose his own path, freeing himself from his mother's shackles.
The plot of SIC's new telenovela, which will replace “Poderosas”, takes place in Olhão, Tomar, Dornes, Lisbon, Madeira and Amsterdam.
Some of the actors who are part of the cast are already known, such as the triple that filmed in Olhão – Isabel Abreu, Pêpê Boyote and Luís Garcia – but also Gonçalo Diniz, Sandra Barata Belo, Marco Delgado, Bárbara Lourenço, Cristina Homem de Melo or Leonor Seixas.
The young Luís Garcia – Bruno in “Rainha das Flores” – was one of the faces of SIC Radical's online series “Aposta Que Amas”, where he gave life to Salvador, and is also known from the TVI series “Morangos com Açúcar”, now becoming one of the protagonists of SIC's next production.
“Queen of Flowers”, by Alexandre Castro, tells the story of Rosa, a woman of faith who, during a pilgrimage to Fátima, suffers a serious accident and suffers from retrograde amnesia, and of Narcissa – who lives in Olhão with the son – who tries to take advantage of his sister's accident to keep the wealth she has built over the last decade.
Bruno is Narcissa's son and Rosa's nephew. He lives in the Algarve with his mother, but moves with her when Daniel, Rosa's husband, goes to pick up his wife's unknown sister.
When he moves to the Sousa house, his life starts to change, for the better. You will feel free and able to challenge your mother. The trigger for this change will be Sofia, Daniel's daughter. Bruno and Sofia will be the young couple in this story.
