The Forest Intervention Zone (ZIF) of São Bartolomeu de Messines Norte was officially created on January 18th. The ICNF Board of Directors decided to create this zone, which includes rustic buildings in the parishes of SB Messines and S. Marcos da Serra, with 2303 hectares.
The municipality of Silves now has six ZIF: ZIF Arade, ZIF Odelouca, ZIF Alte/SB Messines, ZIF S. Marcos da Serra, ZIF S. Marcos da Serra Nordeste and ZIF SB Messines Norte.
The Chamber of Silves explains that the ZIF, "in addition to allowing all the guidelines defined and the territorial planning instruments (national, regional and municipal) to be put into practice, allow its members to benefit from access to community funds, as well as carrying out projects, among other actions that promote the profitability of forest resources and products».
