bishop's village_nature tourismNature tourism, motorhomes, gastronomy and wines are the main highlights of the presence of the Algarve Tourism Region, in this year's edition of the International Tourism Fair – FITUR, which takes place from January 20th to 24th, in Madrid.

In order to consolidate itself as a year-round destination, the Algarve reinforces its commitment to new tourist products and new travel experiences.

As last year, the destination will be part of the Turismo de Portugal stand, where eight hotels in the Algarve will also be represented.

During the five days of the event, RTA will distribute giveaways and informational materials in Spanish, focusing their promotion on products that complement the sun and sea, with a view to combating the seasonality of the destination.

RTA thus takes the opportunity to make known, in the neighboring country, its natural heritage and the unique potential of the Algarve for the practice of outdoor activities, throughout the year, with emphasis on the Algarve Nature Week, an event whose 2nd edition runs from May 13th to 22nd, and which will feature the participation of several companies in the sector.

Motorhomes are one of the novelties this year. The new Motorhome Reception Network Region of the Algarve (RAARA) intends to attract new tourist profiles. The network is under development and currently includes 22 structures including campsites (14), motorhome service areas (6) and rural campsites (2).

RTA takes the opportunity to also promote gastronomy, with the offer of book «Cataplana – Traditions and Recreations», and the Algarve wine, showing its four Protected Designations of Origin (PDO Tavira, DOP Lagoa, DOP Portimão and DOP Lagos) and its wine route.

The Fortress of Sagres will be another highlight at the main tourism fair in Spain, in the year it incorporates the official list of monuments with the European Heritage Label, which he will receive in April in Brussels.

For the president of RTA Desidério Silva, «participating in FITUR is to be able to make known, in a dynamic and direct way, the tourist potential of the Algarve, in addition to the traditional sun and sea and golf, promoting nautical sports, nature tourism, its fantastic cuisine and wines, among other tourist products. Furthermore, our presence at FITUR is essential because Spain is a proximity market of great importance to the Algarve and because the Spanish tourist is one of those who have shown greater adherence to the Algarve concept throughout the year».
