The Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve will give two concerts in December. The first is scheduled for the 5th, on the 152nd anniversary of Club Farense, at 22 pm and the second, “Jazz in a Winter's Night”, takes place at the Municipal Auditorium in Lagoa, at 00:21 pm, on December 30th.
This concert in Lagoa, supported by the Municipality, will have the presence of the singer Manuela Lopes and will present a repertoire of standards by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Woody Herman, «or even some passages in soft Latin Jazz, but with a lot of swing». reveals OJA.
Manuela Lopes was born in Mozambique and became known in the XNUMXs, in the Algarve, when she participated in the concert by the internationally known British saxophonist Ronnie Scott. He currently teaches vocal technique at the Philharmonic Association of Faro, in the Algarve.
The Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve was founded in 2005 and is directed by trumpeter Hugo Alves. OJA is made up of 17 musicians and is headquartered in the municipality of Lagoa. The association received the attribution of Declaration of Cultural Interest, issued by the Ministry of Culture and recently Public Utility issued by the Minister of the Presidency and of Parliamentary Affairs.
