Estoi ULDMThe Algarve now has 29 more medium/long-term inpatient beds, as of this month of August, due to the expansion of the capacity of four Long-Term and Maintenance Units and one Medium-Term and Rehabilitation Unit in different parts of the Algarve.

"The contracting of 20 beds in a Mental Health Unit" is planned for shortly, which will also become part of the National Network of Continued Integrated Care (RNCCI) in the Algarve, announced the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve.

Five of these new inpatient beds are in the Long-term and Maintenance Unit (ULDM) in Aljezur, managed by Casa da Criança do Rogil. Another two were installed at ULDM do Azinhal, in Castro Marim, belonging to the Social Welfare Association of Freguesia do Azinhal.

Long-term beds were also installed at the ULDM in Estoi (Faro) and Algoz (Silves). In the capital of the Algarve, the Algarve Foundation for Social Development now manages seven new beds, while Lar Quinta de São Sebastião de algoz has ten more vacancies.

The Medium Duration and Rehabilitation Unit of Olhão, of the Cultural and Social Support Association of Olhão, was also reinforced, in this case, with five beds.

In the pipeline is the signing of a program contract with the Algarve Mental Health Association (ASMAL) for 20 beds in a maximum support residence, located in Almancil, in the municipality of Loulé.

«With this reinforcement, the Algarve Region has, within the scope of the National Network of Integrated Continuous Care, a total of 526 inpatient beds for the continuous care of dependent people, with 69 convalescent beds, 10 palliative beds, 109 beds for medium-term inpatients and rehabilitation and 338 beds for long-term inpatients and maintenance», according to ARS do Algarve.
