More than 90 young people from Tavira accepted the challenge from the City Council to participate in the short-term modality of the “Tavira – Active Holidays” program, which aims to occupy the free time of residents between 12 and 25 years of age with “socially useful activities”.
The short-term modality, in which each of the 92 young members will provide three hours a day, over ten days, will last until the end of August.
“During this period, young people are entitled to a grant, insurance and a certificate. The program includes four periods, and the participants can only integrate one of the moments», revealed the Câmara de Tavira, in a press release.
The «Tavira – Active Holidays» also includes a long-term modality, in which the members commit to dedicate six hours a day, for 20 days, to work on behalf of the community, whose membership level has not yet been disclosed by the municipality. .
"This initiative aims to encourage the youngsters to have direct contact with active life, instilling in them civic values and responsibilities, as well as improving their knowledge of the reality in which they live, enabling them to have a work experience in a local authority service", according to the Chamber of Tavira.
