The traditional flavors of Monchique return to attract thousands of visitors to the village on the weekend of March 7th and 8th. This year, in addition to the delicacies, the XXII Monchique Sausages Fair has a musical poster that leaves expectations for the municipality to reach the most popular edition ever, with numbers around 25 thousand people.
The number of exhibitors also grew, in particular the number of sausage producers, as he told the Sul Informação Luís Grade, vice-president of the Municipality of Monchique. “A total of 50 exhibitors will be present, plus 19 artisans in an open space. The number of sausage producers grew 50%, from four to six. There has been a tendency to increase this type of producers due to traditional cuisines. The legislation eased and people resumed their activity. And, it seems, the trend is to continue to increase in future editions of the fair».
In terms of visitors, Luís Grade says that the local authority «has a very high expectation, we expect the edition with the greatest number of people. The musical show is also very attractive with David Antunes & Midnight Band with FF [as a guest at 21:30 pm] on Saturday and David Carreira on Sunday [at 18:00 pm], which turns out to be a toast to Women's Day , which coincides with the fair».
«I also notice a great expectation in the people who already speak at the Monchique Sausages Fair. We will definitely have 20 to 25 thousand people at the fair, I expect a flood in Monchique», he added.
Every year a member of the Government usually visits the fair, and this year it will be no different, but the name is not yet known. “We are a bit at an impasse. Several invitations were made, but there is still no confirmed name. But, for sure, a minister, or secretary of state, will be in Monchique, as usual».
During the two days of the fair, in addition to the musical shows, there will be other animations and activities such as the circulating animation, with several performances by the group “Charanga do Rosário” on both days of the fair, or the performance, on Saturday, from 15:30 pm, the Rhythmic Gymnastics classes of Clube Desportivo e Cultural da Nave and the Dance Kids and Fitness Classes of the Sport Youth.
The event, organized by the Municipality of Monchique, opens at 10:00 am on the 7th and closes at 23:00 pm on the 8th, with free entry.
