Kamov takes generators to Armona and CulatraCivil Protection is helping EDP to restore energy in Armona (Olhão) and Culatra Islands (Faro), transporting three power generators to these barrier islands by helicopter. The various housing centers on these two islands are without light from Wednesday to 15 pm.

At this time, two generators have already been transported to the site, using a Kamov helicopter, which is operating from the Loulé heliport.

The situation is expected to be regularized by midday today, "whether by repairing the submarine power supply cable, or by using the three emergency generators, which in the meantime will be installed and fully functioning", revealed the National Authority of Civil Protection (ANPC), in a statement.

The failure of the electricity supply to these two barrier islands in the Ria Formosa, both with housing nuclei, was due to a malfunction in the submarine power supply cable. A problem that EDP technicians are having difficulty in solving, "due to the unfavorable conditions of the state of the sea".
