Implementing the Quality Management System (QMS) in the services of the headquarters of Turismo do Algarve, certifying tourism offices with the ISO 9001:2008 standard and modernizing the computer system are the three measures of the administrative reform that Turismo do Algarve is undertaking perform. It has to be completed by 2015 and has an allocation of almost 290 thousand euros.

The project is called «Reengineering of Processes and Technological Efficiency of Tourism in the Algarve» and is developed around an ambitious objective: reducing bureaucracy in Algarve Tourism, while increasing the quality of the service provided and the satisfaction of visitors seeking the entity and the 21 tourist information offices it oversees.

According to the president of Turismo do Algarve, Desidério Silva, «this is an example of the administration of the future, as it encourages the simplification of working methods and boosts technological innovation».

What is at stake, in practice, is the expansion of the implementation of the SGQ to the services of the entity's headquarters, similarly to what happened with the tourist offices, structures that are now able to receive ISO 9001:2008 certification for their good practices.

But this project also foresees the «virtualization» of the home's computer system, through the acquisition of hardware and software and the development of new features in a document management application that workers use in their daily lives.

To implement this administrative revolution, Turismo do Algarve will have an allocation of almost 290 thousand euros available, with a 65 percent contribution from the FEDER, within the scope of PO Algarve 21, under the QREN.
