Cardinal Dom José Policarpo, Patriarch Emeritus of Lisbon, the new Patriarch of the capital, Dom Manuel Clemente, and about 20 bishops and 70 priests from all over the country, will celebrate on June 20 a mass at the Igreja Matriz in Portimão to mark the Jubilee of the 25th anniversary of the episcopal ordination of Dom Manuel Madureira Dias, Bishop Emeritus of the Algarve.

Like the Sul Informação reported on May 21, the program starts at around 16 pm with a visit to the exhibition “Creio”, on display at the Portimão Museum until 00 September, which marks the Year of Faith and the Jubilee of the 15th anniversary of the episcopal ordination of Dom Manuel Madureira Dias and where they are gathered more than 25 religious treasures of the Diocese of the Algarve.

Among oils on wood and canvas, pieces in gold, silver and ivory, upholstered and polychrome woods, velvet and embroidered silks, the pieces have origins as remote as India, Japan, Jordan or Persia, embracing the sacred art created between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries.

A this exhibition, which is the result of a partnership established between the Municipality and the Parish of the Parish of Portimão, a set of four oil and tempera paintings on canvas, from the Colégio dos Jesuítas Church, which represent Saint Ursula and the eleven thousand virgins, the holy Jesuit martyrs of Japan, the Holy Family and the investiture of the Franciscan habit on St. Anthony, being on display until 21 July.

This is the first public presentation of part of the 16 paintings stored in the collection of the Museum of Portimão, after the restoration work carried out between 2008 and 2011 at the Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva Foundation, at the initiative of the Municipality of Portimão.

After the Museum of Portimão, the religious will visit the Igreja do Colégio, from where at around 18 pm they will depart in procession to the Igreja Matriz in Portimão to celebrate the Jubilee Mass of Dom Manuel Madureira Dias.

In the evening, Orquestra do Algarve will perform the instrumental piece by Handel “Water Music”, under the musical direction of conductor Cesário Costa, in a concert promoted by the Municipality of Portimão, which closes the program of these celebrations.

The show is scheduled for 22:00 pm at the Grand Auditorium Nuno Mergulhão do TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão and has free admission, with tickets being collected at the TEMPO box office, from 9:00 am to 19:00 pm, on the 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th of June .
