Yesterday's communiqué, from the Social Democratic Youth of Portimão, criticizing the PS candidate for the Chamber and the socialist leader, has already motivated a response and a challenge from its opponents of the Socialist Youth of Portimo.

In such a way that JS Portimão, also in a statement, invited its social-democratic counterpart to “be present at the next intervention by Isilda Gomes, so that, in this way, you can have access to its entire content and hear all the proposals, namely in the areas of youth and associations, in which he has a recognized work made during the years in which he assumed the council of culture in the Municipality».

But the statement from the young socialists begins with a peck to the local PSD, when he salutes JSD Portimão "for understanding its need to lead the opposition in a municipality where the PSD is not, and has never been, an alternative to the vote of confidence deposited by the people of Portimão in the Socialist Party over the last 37 years."

JS also defends that «the vote of confidence in the PS that Portimão residents have renewed every four years since there is democracy, would not be possible without the work that has been done in Portimão», stressing that «it is necessary not to have selective memory to recognize him'.

«Portimão, which a few decades ago was at the tail of the Algarve in terms of some socio-economic indicators, has in recent years assumed itself as the capital of the Barlavento Algarve, being today recognized several times as one of the best cities to live in the region and in the country,” say the young socialists.

«Portimão today has a wide range of structuring cultural and sporting facilities, a diversity of educational offer that is unique in the Algarve region that includes all levels of education and training from vocational to higher education, namely with the establishment of training centers such as ETIC, the University of Algarve or ISMAT, where the only law course south of Lisbon is taught», they add.

JS Portimão states, on the other hand, that «the Government is the Algarve's greatest enemy» arguing that «if the Algarve is currently experiencing a deep crisis, it is largely due to the ruinous policies of a government that has done nothing for other than the application of policies to destroy employment, such as the increase of VAT to 23% in one of the largest employers in the region, the catering».

Finally, the young roses underline that “this is the government that has no solutions for the country, which used the politics of fear to tell the Portuguese that, because of the Constitution, it will continue to cut back on health, education and social protection, betting on a policy that will continue to create recession, unemployment, destruction of the business fabric, which will continue to close companies in the Algarve, take students out of higher education and throw families into unemployment».
