Jazz will be celebrated at Teatro Lethes, in Faro, on the day that since 2012 has been dedicated to this musical style worldwide, April 30th. The Associação Grémio das Músicas (AGM) marks the date again in 2013 with the second «International Jazz Day», a «marathon concert» that will feature the participation of several artists and bands.

In 2012, the first year in which the International Jazz Day was instituted by UNESCO, «several important names of national Jazz were invited to a festive meeting that took place at Teatro das Figuras, in a memorable night».

«From New Orleans to the United Nations in New York, from UNESCO headquarters in Paris, to countless cities in Europe, Asia, Africa, practically the whole world celebrated in 2012 Jazz as a genuine artistic form, a heritage of all Humanity, which it brings races, creeds and religions together in a generous, creative and unique sharing that only this music can generate».

This year, the association of Faro promises "lots of music" with artists yet to be announced.

«The Associação Grémio das Músicas (AGM) has been developing since 2001 an important educational and cultural activity, both with the support of the General Directorate of Arts and autonomously generating income. The performance of this association in the Algarve region ranges from training to non-commercial programming in the area of Jazz and Modern Music, an area that lacks the provision of pedagogical and performance opportunities», revealed the AGM in a press release.
