The first edition of Lusodoc – Exhibition of Documentary Cinema of Loulé will take place at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, between 15 and 17 November.

The cinema made in member countries of the community of Portuguese-speaking countries (CPLP) is little known in Portugal. Shown almost always outside the major commercial circuits, it is a challenge to reflect on its importance in society and in collective memory. Thus, the main objective of this Loulé Documentary Film Festival is to look at documentary film as a window on the world.

In this first edition, Brazil, Angola and Mozambique will be represented.

The event is divided between theoretical and debate panels promoted by the guests and the subsequent exhibition of documentaries.

Thus, on the 15th, at 16 pm, the first panel will take place, dedicated to Brazil, with the presence of Mirian Tavares, coordinator of CIAC (Center for Investigation in Arts and Communication), and Brazilian filmmaker Liliana Sulzbach. At 00:18 pm, the documentary “A Invenção da Infância” is presented and, at 00:21 pm, “O Cárcere ea Rua”, both by this director.

On Friday, November 16, the highlight goes to Mozambique: at 16 pm, Sílvia Vieira, researcher at the Center for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC) of the Algarve, and Pedro Pimenta, who, in addition to other roles in the seventh art, is currently a member of the jury of international festivals such as FESPACO, FilmRio, Festival Cinéma du Réel and DocsLisboa, present a debate panel.

At 18:00 pm and 21:30 pm, the Mozambican documentaries “Salani”, by Isabel Noronha and Vivian Altman, and “Hóspedes da Noite”, by Licínio Azevedo, will be presented, respectively.

At the end of LUSODOC, on November 17, the day is dedicated to Angola. Paulo Cunha, Researcher in the area of Cinema and Audiovisual programming at the European Capital of Culture 2012, and the Angolan director, Kiluanje Liberdade, are the presenters of the panel, which takes place from 16 pm onwards.

“Oxalá Cresçã Pitangas”, documentary by Kiluanje Liberdade and Ondjaki, and “A Minha Banda e Eu”, also by Kiluanje Liberdade, will be screened at 18:00 and 21:30.

For the organization, this exhibition is of great importance for Lusofonia, as well as for the projection of cinema in Portuguese-speaking countries, serving as yet another example of the cultural ties that unite these countries.

Tickets for documentaries cost 2 euros and admission is free for students (subject to presentation of a student card). Panels have free entry.
