This Wednesday, August 15th, at 21 pm, at Estádio Algarve, the Portuguese football team will face the Panama national team, in a preparation game for the qualifying phase of the World Cup Brazil00.

Portugal and Panama, which ranks 54th in the FIFA world rankings, will face each other for the first time in their history. The match will be refereed by the Spaniard César Muniz Fernandez.

The Portuguese team will compete for a place in the finals of the World Cup in Brazil with Russia, Northern Ireland, Israel, Azerbaijan and Luxembourg. The first game is precisely with the Luxembourgers, on 7 September.

The goalkeeper Eduardo, one of the 23 chosen by national coach Paulo Bento, for the preparatory game with Panama, defended this Monday that the working group is aware of the difficulties in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.

The player guaranteed maximum responsibility, even in the preparatory matches: “We will face all matches with the same seriousness and take the opportunity to maintain the same spirit that we brought from the European Championship. Continue to reinforce it and work to overcome the difficulties that lie ahead. We have to prepare for qualification and these games are important. We are here body and soul. Let's take this game very seriously. As if it were a real game”, he stressed.

Eduardo promised that all athletes will “do everything not to go through what they have already gone through” in other qualifying stages for major competitions, namely the last two, the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.
