The deadline for applications to the ArteJovem@Portimão Contest was extended until July 13th, a challenge launched by the City Council that aims to encourage and promote new artists and stimulate the creativity and innovation of young people between the ages of 18 and 35 in the Algarve.
The extension of the deadline was decided by the jury, which saw fit to introduce several changes to the regulation, in order to meet the suggestions made by interested parties during the application process.
To make this competition more eclectic, a few more creative areas were added, which will allow participants to showcase their artistic talents in painting/drawing, sculpture/installation, digital or analog photography, digital illustration, multimedia installation and video/direction.
In the same sense, the geographical scope was expanded, which will enable the participation of all young people in the Algarve and not just natives, residents or students of Portimão.
Also in terms of novelties, ISMAT – Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes and Startte join the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, AeroVIP, Portisub and ETIC Algarve in the list of entities that support the competition with the offer of prizes. the participation that stands out for its quality, creativity and innovation in the various areas will receive the Excellence Award, worth 500 euros, while the winning work in each of the other artistic areas will receive 200 euros, monetary prizes that will be awarded by the Municipality of Portimão, in addition to other prizes that will be drawn among the winners.
The new regulation and respective registration form are available at www.cm-portimao.pt, application dossiers must be sent by mail or delivered, until 17:30 pm on July 13, at Loja Ponto Já – Av. São João de Deus, Municipal Market Building, ground floor, Shops 15 and 16, 8500-508 Portimão, with the indication “Concurso ArteJovem@Portimão”.
The dossiers can also be delivered by hand at Loja Ponto Já until that date, from Monday to Friday, between 10:00 am and 19:00 pm. Those interested should obtain additional information by calling 282 422 388 or by e-mail at storeja.portimao @ipj.pt.
Given the existence of a new regulation and conditions for participation, young people who have already submitted their work will be able to collect them and submit a new application, if they so wish.
The jury of the event is composed of a representative of the Municipality of Portimão and a representative of the Municipal Council of Youth of Portimão, as well as five personalities of recognized professional merit and local level, namely, Nuno Ribeiro, general director of ETIC Algarve, Stela Barreto, painter and professor of Visual Arts, Arlindo Arez, sculptor, Daniela Braz, professor of Design at ISMAT, and Marisa Baptista, architect and promoter of Plataforma Artística Download.
In a first phase, there will be a pre-selection of works in the different artistic areas that will integrate a collective exhibition, to be opened on August 12th, International Youth Day, at which time the respective prizes will be delivered to the winners.
