The cliff at the access to the beach at albufeira, the beach at D. Ana, in Lagos, and the one at Carvoeiro, in Lagoa, are the priorities in the Algarve of interventions in the Action Plan for the Enhancement and Protection of the Coast 2012-2015, presented today by the Minister of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Spatial Planning.

According to Assunção Cristas, the Action Plan for the Valorization and Protection of the Coast will focus on more rigorous monitoring of the coastline, pointing out as a priority the safety of people and goods and the prevention of risks on the cliffs.

Across the country, more than 300 interventions are planned. The minister says that her objective is for the intervention actions to be carried out. The previous plan, which has been in place since 2007, “defined many actions and had a low execution rate. We now want to look at these actions and revalidate them in light of their urgency and objective, and make the plan feasible», said the minister at the presentation of the new plan, in Cascais.

Assunção Cristas preferred not to advance the amount involved in the interventions, referring to the website of the Portuguese Environment Agency, where more information will be available when the plan is made public.
