The Museum of Portimão, the Alcalar Interpretation Center and the Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes receive the initiatives prepared in Portimão to mark the International Day of Monuments and Sites, this year under the theme “From World Heritage to Local Heritage – protecting and managing the change".
The program starts on April 18, the date on which the anniversary is celebrated, with two guided visits to the megalithic monuments of Alcalar, the first scheduled for 11:00 am and the second for 15:00 pm.
On the same day, the pedagogical workshop “The Heritage at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes” is promoted, which takes place in this space dedicated to culture, through a program that includes the presentation in powerpoint “Discover Portimão”, the puppet theater “Os Medos do Rio Arade”, the quiz “Heritage” and other recreational activities, with free entry and especially aimed at the youngest.
Also on the International Day of Monuments and Sites, April 18, it will be possible to visit the Portimão Museum for free, which opens its doors between 10:00 and 18:00.
On Saturday, April 21st, the big challenge will be to visit Alcalar “A Day in Prehistory” and participate in a unique recreation that offers visitors fun family moments, discovering and experiencing some of the activities that were part of the daily life of that town. five thousand years ago.
The activities will take place in two periods, in the morning between 10:00 am and 13:00 pm and in the afternoon from 14:30 pm to 17:00 pm. nature”, “Hunters of prehistory” and “Builders of monuments”.
Also on that day, the second session of the introductory ceramics workshop will take place, where the ancient 'soenga' process will be fired, in which the pieces come into direct contact with fire, as in prehistory.
