Tavira was distinguished nationally with the title “Autarquia + Familiarly Responsible 2011”. The award ceremony will take place on October 19, at 17 pm, in the auditorium of the Associação Nacional dos Municipios, in Coimbra.
This recognition derives from the family policies adopted by the municipalities in nine areas of action, namely, support for maternity and paternity, support for families with special needs, basic services, education and training, housing and urban planning, transport, culture, sport, leisure and free time, cooperation, institutional relations and social participation.
The good practices of the Municipal Councils with their employees in terms of reconciling work and family were also considered.
With this project, the Observatory of Family Responsible Local Authorities seeks to play an important role in the context of the family economy, through its policy of support to the families of citizens and their municipal employees.
The data collected through the surveys will be available on the Observatory's website at www.observatorioafr.org, allowing all interested parties to learn about the work developed by the winning municipalities, as well as by the other participants.
