Time will turn back in the village of Salir, Loulé, in another edition of the «Salir do Tempo» Festival. The event runs from 9 to 11 September and this year will be marked by "a new dynamic, with a focus on the arts of the Middle Ages", according to the organization.

In this festival, visitors are invited to live an experience that takes them back to the origins of the village of Salir, which dates back to the XNUMXth century. Musicians, actors and other artists, such as fire breathers, will try to recreate the environment then lived and liven up the festival.

In the musical poster, the groups «Trovas D' Amigo», specializing in the Galician-Portuguese medieval repertoire, «Sharq Wa Garb», interpreting Arab medieval music, and the «Cuarteto Aquitânia», showing Jewish-Sephardic medieval sounds, stand out.

There will also be a special focus on Arab culture, «with the belly dancers, the jewelry and accessories stands, the djellabas, the uppers, the mirrors, the water pipes, the silverware, the lamps, the spices, the tea tent , the henna tattoo artist and the camel tent», revealed the Câmara de Loulé, in a press release.

«A strategic point during the Reconquista period, when the transition from Muslim to Christian rule gave rise to the most varied demonstrations of strength, Salir also lived moments interspersed with permanent attempts to normalize everyday life, in which the Arts played an important role in society since then,” he explained.

«The recreation of the medieval market, based on products from that time, where several merchants present with their stalls of traditional products such as honey, cork, basketwork or dried fruit, and artisans with their crafts, is also part of this scenario», added the municipality.
