Ricardo Velho did (almost) everything, but was unable to avoid another defeat for Farense

Farense lost 2-1 on their visit to Arouca, this Saturday, March 30th, in a game counting for the I League championship in which Algarve goalkeeper Ricardo Velho was the great figure, by scoring a excellent performance, despite having conceded two goals.

The first scoring opportunities only appeared around the quarter hour of the first half and were carried out by Arouca.

Shortly afterwards, Farense also showed their strength, with Marco Matias and, later, Zé Luís, forcing the Arouquense guardian to do his best.

And if Arruabarrena shone on one side, what about Ricardo Velho, Farense's goalkeeper, who was instrumental in preventing the home team from scoring several times in the first half.

The Algarve goalkeeper was just unable to stop Tiago Esgaio's shot, just before the break (45+2), which put Arouca up 1-o.

Returning from the locker room, Arouca continued to be the most productive team and Ricardo Velho continued to shine.

But not even the Algarve's great performance stopped the home team from reaching 2-0, in the 68th minute, through Cristo González.

When the result seemed sealed, Bruno Duarte managed to reduce the deficit to 2-1, in the 88th minute, in a move that was evaluated by the VAR, but which ended up being validated.

Even before the end of the game, already in stoppage time, Farense found itself reduced to ten, after the expulsion of Facundo Cáseres, due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

Shortly afterwards, the referee ended the game and sealed Arouca's victory.

With this result, Farense, which has not won in the championship for nine games, drops to 12th place – it could still fall to 14th by the end of the day – and has 27 points, when 27 rounds of the I League have been played.

On April 5th, at 20:15 pm, the Algarve hosts Boavista at São Luís, in Faro.
