The “Teachers in the Campaign” action will take place in Faro and in Beja today, Thursday, to demand «inclusive education in a quality Public School».
In Beja, the concentration has been taking place since 10 am, in Jardim do Bacalhau, at 00 am. In Faro, the meeting will take place in Jardim Manuel Bívar, at 15 pm.
«If it is true that Education has not been a central theme in debates and campaign speeches, that does not mean it is absent, as confirmed by the electoral programs presented by the various candidacies. And some of these programs are extremely worrying because they point towards the privatization of Education, intending to recover bad memory association contracts or even move forward with old aspirations of some, for example, with the so-called teaching voucher», according to Fenprof , which organizes the protests.
The Public School “is the only one that has given, and should continue to give, quality responses, for all and inclusive. In Public Schools, everyone must have a place and, more than that, educational responses appropriate to their needs, whether they result from a disability or another type of specific need, for example, increasingly, from the language they do not speak or do not master».
«In schools, everything is done to make inclusive education a reality, the truth is that, as long as there is a lack of resources, including teachers, but also specialized technicians or operational assistants, schools will have difficulty achieving the objectives they pursue. If the privatization measures that some advocate were to advance, the situation would be even worse, as private parties do not want those who need specific support measures, they want, above all, public money», concludes Fenprof.
