Pestana Hotel Group increases minimum pay for its workers

The largest national hotel group decides on minimum increases of 5% and ensures that, at entry salaries, the salary improvement will be greater than twice the inflation rate

The Pestana Hotel Group promoted a general increase in salaries, with a minimum salary increase of 5% for all employees. The Pestana Minimum Remuneration, a base value created by the Portuguese group to enhance the salaries of its workers in entry-level positions, will be increased by around 2024% in 10, to 1100 euros, including the value of the meal allowance.

“The improvement in salary conditions above those imposed by law and access to numerous benefits provided by the Pestana Hotel Group constitute a form of gratitude for the commitment of our teams, who, in a year of new records in our activity, ensured the maintenance of high levels quality of service and customer satisfaction”, explains José Theotónio, CEO of Pestana Hotel Group.

“This year it was also decided to offer all employees, in addition to health insurance, psychological support and access to Pestana Academy initiatives, an increase to 50% in the discount at all Pestana and Pousadas de Portugal units”, he concludes.

“March salaries already include these increases, which, in the case of the Pestana Minimum Remuneration, means more than double the 4,3% inflation rate seen in 2023 and the continuation of the policy of positioning above the national minimum wage”, he assures which is the largest Portuguese hotel group.

The Pestana Minimum Remuneration includes 900 euros in recurring remuneration and the value of meal allowance corresponding to 9,6 euros per working day, a total that, depending on the calendar days, will even exceed 1100 euros.

In 2023, the Pestana Hotel Group had made an average salary update of 12% in 2023, as well as promoting the distribution of dividends on an average of two extra salaries.
