Praça 1º de Maio, in Castro Marim, was redeveloped, with public lighting being reinforced and reorganized.
The intervention aims to improve circulation conditions, with the installation of eight columns with lights on the perimeter of the square, making the entire central area clear.
«This requalification took place with greater energy and water efficiency, focusing on its aesthetic enhancement and the art of the Portuguese sidewalk, with the aim of continuing to maintain the place as the heart of Castro Marim», says the City Council.
The work also included the installation of the irrigation network with telemetry and the replacement of some shrub species, in accordance with environmental concerns related to the drought affecting the territory of the municipality of Castro Marim and the Algarve.
This central square in the town of Castro Marim serves as a frequent pedestrian circulation for local residents and tourists, and is also a place where various events take place throughout the year.
