It's called APROMA and was created by Albufeira City Council, with the aim of combating the lack of labor in the municipality, offering several courses.

APROMA – Professional Academy of the Municipality of Albufeira was created by the Municipality in partnership with ISQ – Institute of Welding and Quality and will provide courses for plumbing technicians, electrical technicians, air conditioning technicians, painting technicians in civil construction, technical swimming pool maintenance and carpentry technician.

On March 21st, in a meeting with 40 businesspeople from the municipality, the Professional Academy of the Municipality of Albufeira – APROMA was presented.

This meeting was attended by the municipal executive bodies and the company ISQ – Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade, which will streamline and operationalize the courses that will be part of this first edition.

José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, considers this to be an «innovative perspective» that allows «combating the lack of qualified labor in professions linked to the construction sector».

“In order to support people”, the Municipality of Albufeira reimburses 80% of course registration, which will result in a registration cost of 100 euros. The courses will be held after work, at the Vale Pedras municipal shipyards, from Monday to Friday, from 18:30 pm to 22:30 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 18:00 pm, lasting three months.

The first course will be swimming pool maintenance technician and will start on April 2nd. Trainees will also have free food for dinner on weekdays and lunch on Saturday training days.

During the professional courses, trainees will also participate in AED training, integrating the Albufeira Municipality's External Automatic Defibrillation Program – PDAE, which will provide double certification to trainees at the end of the courses.
