Traveling to «the recent past of resistance against the totalitarianism of the Estado Novo» is the objective of the play “This is My Love Story”, which will take the stage at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão on Saturday, February 10th, at 21 p.m.

This documentary theater show, created by the company Hotel Europa in co-production with the Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II, «brings together incredible stories linked to clandestinity and anti-fascist struggles, both in Portugal and in the former colonies, starring notable figures such as Isabel do Carmo, Margarida Tengarrinha and Gouveia Carvalho (on video), Mariana Camacho, and also Armando Morais and Mariana Morais, under the direction of André Amálio, who is also part of the cast», according to Portimão City Council.

In “This is my love story”, «real people tell their life stories of fighting against fascism and Portuguese colonialism, looking at this recent past of resistance with a focus on love and the loving relationships that were born within the social struggle, analyzing how they were able to survive the persecution of the Estado Novo and, at the same time, were at the basis of the sustainability of their political and military struggles».

«Based on this premise, testimonies from people who were in hiding and in exile were investigated, but also those who were part of the liberation movements of the former Portuguese colonies and small acts of resistance in daily life», added the municipality.

Tickets for the show, part of the Municipality of Portimão's program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April 1974, cost 8 euros and can be purchased online or directly at the TEMPO ticket office.
