Water resources and citriculture are the main themes of the “XXI Conference”, which will take place from 14:30 pm on February 16th, in the Fissul Colloquium Room, part of the 8th Silves Capital da Laranja Exhibition, which opens on the same day .
At its opening, the conference will be attended by the presidents of Silves City Council (Rosa Palma), CCDR Algarve (José Apolinário), RTA (André Gomes), and the regional director of the Portuguese Environment Agency (Pedro Coelho ).
The conference itself, divided into two panels, will feature the participation of José Paulo Monteiro (assistant professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Algarve, Center for Water Sciences and Technologies), Laura Tarrafa (director of CNA – National Confederation of Agriculture), Nuno Canada (president of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research – INIAV), Filipe Martinho (Frutas Martinho), Pedro Cabrita (Pedro Cabrita – Citrus Production), Pedro Valadas Monteiro (vice president of CCDR Algarve ), Luísa Conduto (vice president of Silves City Council) and also Amílcar Duarte (assistant professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology at UAlg, Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development).
Moderated by Elisabete Rodrigues (director of Sul Informação) and Paula Bravo (director of the newspaper Terra Ruiva), the conference will allow debates on topics related to water resources management as well as more scientific topics.
The 8th Silves Capital da Laranja Exhibition will open on February 16th, at 10:30 am, and will feature several dozen exhibitors linked to citrus growing, wines, agriculture, regional products, sweets, crafts and gastronomy, as well as some associations and local and regional entities.
