Farense fan suspected of racist insults prevented from entering stadiums

Man was also made a defendant

A 53-year-old man residing in Faro, was banned from entering sports venues, after being identified by the Public Security Police (PSP) in sequence of racist insults to Chiquinho, a Famalicão player, in the game last Saturday, February 10th, at the São Luís Stadium.

The decision, taken by the Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Sport (APCVD), was made public this Monday, the 12th.

«As a result of the collaboration and quick action of the PSP, the suspected fan was notified this morning of the precautionary measure decreed by the APCVD and the respective constitution of a defendant in an administrative offense proceeding», says this authority.

Thus, the fan will be prevented from accessing sports venues until the end of the administrative offense process.

According to the current legal regime, in case of conviction, the offender may be subject to a fine of between 1.750 and 50.000 euros and an additional sanction of banning access to sports venues for up to 3 years.

In case of non-compliance with the interdiction measure, «the fan incurs the crime of disobedience and may be detained by the police authorities».
