Moncarapacho School celebrated its patron Dr. António João Eusébio

He was a renowned businessman, founder of the Sumol group

The anniversary of the birth of Dr. António João Eusébio, from Moncarapacá and creator of the Sumol brand, at the school that bears his name, took place this Wednesday, January 10th.

Patron's Day was attended by his two sons, and the program also included the presentation of merit and excellence awards.

António João Eusébio was born in Moncarapacho, on January 10, 1915. He graduated in Consular and Customs Diplomacy and in Finance and Commercial Administration and was a professor of Technical Education in Évora and Lisbon.

Later, he joined the General Inspectorate of Finance, and became one of the largest national businessmen in his field in the 20th century, highlighting the creation of the Sumol Group which was, according to him, “the combination of two things that are in my land, Juice (from Algarve oranges) and Sun”.

Distinguished as a businessman, he never neglected two aspects of vital importance: culture and social action. Considered a personality with a solid general culture, maintaining a clear preference for technical and scientific elements related to food, engineering, industrial management, marketing, he also demonstrated a high interest in music (popular and classical), literature and poetry.

He passed away in 2000, perpetuating his name in the 2nd and 3rd cycle of Basic Education in Moncarapacho.
