The Olhão Maritime Police seized this Friday, January 12th, in the Ria Formosa, a piece of fishing gear, consisting of 34 traps, and four PVC tubes, which were intended to capture octopus.
According to the Maritime Police, the respective report was prepared, and the gear of 34 traps and the fish that were inside them, as well as species of seahorses, which ended up being left behind, were seized "as a precautionary measure". caught in the traps.
Because they were alive, the seahorses were returned to their natural habitat.
Two members of the Olhão Maritime Police Local Command were involved in this action, supported by a vessel.
