VRSA donates 22 thousand euros in food to the municipality's IPSS

The baskets include foodstuffs such as olive oil, cooking oil, grains, beans, rice, flour, cereals, milk, among other goods.

The municipality of Vila Real de Santo António donated food, with a total value of 22 thousand euros, to the municipality's Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS).

The beneficiary entities were Santa Casa da Misericórdia de VRSA, the VRSA Delegation of the Red Cross, Refood Vila Real de Santo António and the Associação de Beneficência Mão Amiga, which will now be responsible for distributing the products to families in the municipality who are in a vulnerable situation.

The measure aims to reinforce food support in the municipality and responds to the increase in requests for help to institutions.

The baskets include foodstuffs such as olive oil, cooking oil, grains, beans, rice, flour, cereals, milk, among other goods.

«Taking into account the municipality's competences in the scope of social intervention, this measure will allow to mitigate the needs of the most vulnerable population and reinforces the important work of proximity, help and cooperation that the various IPSS have developed in the municipality», says Álvaro Araújo, president of the VRSA City Council.
