Storm Bernard in Tavira: falling trees, blocked roads and damage to vehicles

More than a hundred incidents, mainly falling trees that resulted in obstruction of roads and damage to vehicles, were recorded in the municipality of Tavira last Sunday, the 22nd, when Storm Bernard passed through the Algarve, the City Council of that city announced today. Algarve.

«Although some minor damage was recorded to homes, there were no evacuees», adds the municipality.

In response to these requests, firefighters, the Municipal Civil Protection Service, Parish Councils and the municipal company Taviraverde were on the ground to «resolve, as quickly as possible, this situation and restore normality».

In some cases, these operatives are still working in the field.

Tavira City Council adds that, in relation to «damage to private property, if it occurred in a public space, those affected must report all incidents so that they can be analyzed by municipal services».

To this end, the respective form must be filled out, clicking here, and sent by email to the Municipal Civil Protection Service ([email protected]), accompanied by the following documents: Report from the authorities with competence in the area (PSP , GNR and Municipal Firefighters), Photographs, Budget of expenses and Proof of ownership of the affected asset.

«If you detect any situation of imminent danger, you must also report it to the Municipal Civil Protection Service», adds the municipality.

Extratropical Storm Bernard caused damage throughout the Algarve. At sea, when this depression passed, the Hydrographic Institute recorded waves of almost 10 meters on the Algarve coast.
