The initiative was promoted by the Loulé City Council, through the Municipal Civil Protection Service

An exhibition of civil protection resources and agents, on the premises of the Loulé Secondary School, marked the International Day for Disaster Reduction, on October 13th.

The initiative was promoted by the Loulé City Council, through the Municipal Civil Protection Service, in collaboration with this educational establishment.

Several entities linked to this matter were present at the action, such as the Portuguese Red Cross, the Maritime Authority, the National Republican Guard, the Public Health Authority, the Regional Command of
Emergency and Civil Protection, the Municipal Firefighters of Loulé and the Municipal Civil Protection Service.

This action counted on the collaboration of students from the three classes (10th, 11th and 12th) of the Civil Protection technical course at this Secondary School, who played various roles during the activity, such as presenting the civil protection agents present to the remaining classes of the school community, explaining their strengths and capabilities to the various entities represented.

President Vítor Aleixo and Renata Afonso, director of the School, visited this exhibition and handed over participation diplomas to the institutions present.

The celebration of the International Day for Disaster Reduction was established by the United Nations in 1989, with the purpose of raising awareness among governments, organizations and citizens around the world about the need to develop actions that contribute to preventing risks and reducing vulnerabilities, increasing the resilience of communities and the ability to anticipate and respond to the occurrence of serious accidents or catastrophes.
