Loulé Museum recreates leaf litter and talks about rainfed orchard

Both initiatives are open to the public and have free entry

The recreation of a defoliation and a conversation about the traditional dryland orchard. The Loulé Museum will promote, this Friday and Saturday, October 13th and 14th, two initiatives, at its Querença and Alte centers, dedicated to the agricultural wealth of the interior of the municipality.

“Desfolhada” is the theme of the activity taking place at the Água Museum Center, in Querença, this Friday, the 13th, at 21 pm.

In addition to various initiatives around corn, such as the defoliation of corn cobs, the gatherings of yesteryear will be recreated, to the sound of Vitaliano de Sousa's accordion.

At the Cândido Guerreiro e Condes de Alte Museum Center, on Saturday, 14th, at 18pm, there will be a conversation about the traditional dryland orchard, organized by the In Loco Association. The carob, almond, fig and olive trees are trees that have shaped the landscape and economy of the Algarve for centuries.

In this session it will be possible to discover more about the rainfed orchard, an agricultural system adapted to the conditions of the Algarve barrocal, which valued natural resources and guaranteed the subsistence of rural families.

This activity is part of the “Agro+Eficiente” project, by the In Loco Association, which promotes sustainable agriculture in the region. This is a project whose main objective is to value traditional genetic resources, new crops and irrigation water management in the context of climate change.

Both initiatives are open to the public and have free entry.
