From parties to library activities: this is what Halloween will be like in the Algarve

Activities take place all over the Algarve

Parties with live music, activities in libraries or hotels and a masquerade contest: Halloween will be celebrated in the Algarve with activities in various locations over the next few days. 

in Albufeira, the party only takes place on the 31st, with mummies, zombies, ghosts, witches, fire-breathers and werewolves strolling through downtown.

This year's event takes place at Largo Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco, from 20pm, with performing arts, music, dance, face painting and Halloween parades.

One of the most anticipated moments is the performance of Associação Soul. The dance group from Albufeira presents its latest show, “FreakShow” and promises a performance full of rhythm.

The famous “Halloween Night” ends with the sound of DJ China and Lo-Fi. Miguel Rocha takes to the stage installed at Largo Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco and invites participants to embark on a sonic journey, with an immersive and vibrant environment. Later, he takes to the Lo-Fi stage which closes the night, making electronic music the main protagonist of the night.

The “Spooky Run” is once again part of the Halloween Celebration program. The initiative, organized by the Clube Desportivo das Areias de São João, with support from Albufeira City Council in partnership with the “Caminhadas ao Luar” group, has two routes (7 and 4 kilometers) for athletes to choose from.

For José Carlos Rolo, president of the Chamber, it is with great satisfaction that such a party is being held in the municipality, as «this is an event that has won over fans of all ages, not only from Albufeira but from other regions of the Algarve».

The mayor highlighted that «although Halloween is not a traditionally Portuguese celebration, in Albufeira, it is already considered a large-scale and landmark event, beneficially influencing the local economy during the low tourist season».

 

 

in the county of Faro, there is a party in Bordeira with a tribute to Queen and Domingos Caetano, on the 31st.

The concerts, which take place at the D. Leonor Outdoor Activity Center, start at 22pm.

In Lagoa, On the 28th, children aged 3 to 10 will be able to participate in “Halloween Morning”, which will take place at the Municipal Library, between 10:30 am and 11:30 am.

The activity, led by Ana Rita Janeiro, consists of a combination of history and illustration where younger people can also get to work with a small themed workshop.

“Halloween Morning” is a story in verse told from a house made of recycled materials using projections, video, music and images developed with UV light.

In the western Algarve, in Lagos, Cascade Wellness Resort will celebrate October 31st with a buffet dinner and lots of entertainment for the whole family.

At the Mundi Restaurant you will be able to taste dishes inspired by the South of America. The buffet dinner will feature shrimp moqueca in pumpkin, roast pork loin with cumin, feijoada and other main dishes.

Everyone present will also have the opportunity to participate in a showcooking Latino where chicken and veal fajitas, chicken and veal burritos and tacos al pastor will transport attendees to “Dia de los Muertos”. In the vegetarian option, the vegetarian Chili and the Vegetable and Bean Burritos are alternatives.

In addition to the food, the night will be lively with live music, a themed quiz to test your knowledge about this event and even a 'mini disco'.

The program runs between 19pm and 00pm and costs 22 euros per person (drinks not included), with a 00% reduction for children aged 42 and over.

For children up to 12 years old, the program is free if they are guests.

Also in the municipality of Loulé if you are going to celebrate Halloween, with activities at Quinta Shopping.

The activities are scheduled for the 30th and 31st of October, between 15pm and 00pm, with “trick or treat”, workshops, games and treats.

The bravest can even wrap the mummy and bite into the apples. To test your aim, there is pumpkin throwing and a ring game.

This fun is with the support of the MUDAKI project.

In the parish of Quarteira, Halloween will take place in a “Haunted Park”, between Rua Vasco da Gama and Rua Gago Coutinho, on the 31st.

The event begins with the performance of dance and entertainment groups, from 19:00 pm to 21:00 pm, followed by the costume competition, open to the public, with prizes for children, youth and adult groups, at 21:30 pm.

The “Haunted Park”, the theme chosen for this year, features the presence of DJ Rahim, the “Horror Tent” by the Akredita em Ti Association and the exhibition of works by the António Aleixo Foundation and the Quarteira Child Support Center.

«This is a family event for everyone. This year, we intend to continue investing in the diversity and quality of our initiatives, combining entertainment with the dynamism of local commerce», says Telmo Pinto, president of the Quarteira Council.

Halloween is organized by the Quarteira Parish Council with the support of the Loulé City Council and in collaboration with the Akredita em Ti Youth Association, the Quarteira Child Support Center, Colégio Origami and the António Aleixo Foundation.

 

 

This weekend, October 28th and 29th, the Portimão the Fun Day, which promises lots of entertainment for the youngest, at the Portimão Arena, to celebrate Halloween.

Themed inflatables, ball pits, slides and trampolines are examples of what you will find at Portimão Arena this weekend.

On these two days, Fun Day Halloween will open its doors from 10am to 00pm, with the themed areas “Children’s – inflatables, ball pools and many other games”, “Fun – themed inflatables, trampolines, obstacles and slides” spread over 19 square meters ”, “Spot Radical – sports equipment, obstacle courses and slides” and “Gold – mechanical wave, climbing, games, inflatable disco and other exclusive entertainment”.

Recommended for children aged two and over, all activities and equipment will be monitored by specialized professionals trained in this type of entertainment, organized by the company My Dynamic, with the support of the Municipality of Portimão.

To participate in the activity there are two types of tickets – “normal” and “gold” – valid for the whole day and which, if purchased in advance, offer reduced prices, allowing free entry to parents and companions, for a maximum of two people per child.

The “normal ticket”, which gives access to the children's area, fun zone and radical spot, costs 18 euros during the pre-sale period and 20 euros when purchased on the days and location of the event.

The “gold ticket”, in addition to the three areas mentioned, also gives access to the “gold area” and costs 22 euros in pre-sale and 25 euros on the event days.

Each ticket must be exchanged at Portimão Arena for the respective access bracelet.

 

 

On the same day, the Silves Library will be invaded by “Scary and Dark Stories”, next Saturday, October 28th, at 15:30 pm, in another “Storytime” session, led by sociocultural animator Bruno Baptista.

The initiative is part of the Halloween celebrations, is aimed at parents and children, aged 5 to 10, and has free entry.

The stories will be told by Bruno Baptista.

Born in the Algarve, Bruno Batista has a degree in Cultural Animation and Community Education, dividing his work between acting, storytelling, book mediation and training.

As a storyteller, he has held more than a thousand sessions, participating in festivals, book fairs, schools, libraries, reading weeks, among others.

In the municipality of Tavira, in Santo Estêvão, Halloween night is celebrated with rock and music from the 80s, with the band Capitão Fantasma and DJ Nuno Silva.

The Lisbon band celebrates its 35th anniversary this year and returns to the Sotavento Algarvio.

To end the night, the sounds of the 80s invade the village of Santo Estêvão, led by DJ Nuno Silva, from the Rua 80 program.

The event is organized by Associação 1597 – Associação Cultural, Recreativa e Desportiva de Santo Estêvão, the most recent association in the region, which was created with the aim of boosting the village of Santo Estêvão and the Barrocal Algarvio region.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at Farmácia Cesário Tavares or by calling 960 370 007.

They can also be purchased on the day of the event, with the ticket office opening at 21pm.

The Capitão Fantasma concert is scheduled for 22pm and the 00s Halloween with DJ Nuno Silva for 80:23pm.

The event has the institutional support of the União de Freguesias da Luz de Tavira and Santo Estêvão and Rádio Gilão.
