Lagos creates Senior Citizen Space to bring municipal services where the elderly are

New response is adapted to the needs of older citizens

The new Senior Citizen Space in Lagos, a customer serviceThe Lacobrigense Chamber, which will serve the municipality's elderly population, will begin operating at the beginning of October, the municipality announced.

The launch of this new response, which will be promoted in conjunction with the Agency for Administrative Modernization (AMA), is one of the initiatives with which Lagos will mark the International Day of the Elderly.

«Providing digital assistance to citizens who cannot or do not know how to use public services available digitally, but doing so in a way that is targeted and adapted to the needs of this age group, is the main objective of this measure», describes the Chamber of Lagos.

Contrary to what currently happens, «with the entry into operation of the Senior Citizen Space, instead of older citizens going to the XNUMXst Century Paços do Concelho Building to be served, municipal employees will go to the meeting users where they are, namely in day centers, nursing homes and residential structures, but also in their homes, to assist them in dealing with the most diverse bureaucratic matters».

In total, there will be more than 40 services available, related to the areas of activity of the Tax Authority, the National Health Service, Social Security, ADSE, Caixa Geral de Aposentações, Justice, the Institute of Mobility and Transport, the Energy Agency and AMA itself (e.g.: renewal of the Citizen Card or the creation of the Digital Mobile Key).

The Senior Citizen Space will, in the first phase, operate on Wednesdays, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, by prior appointment (made by telephone), «accepting the possibility that these hours may be extended depending on the level of participation of the population and of the volume of requests that may arise».

The creation of this new service response was preceded by the formalization of a protocol between AMA and the municipality, according to which the municipality assumes, among others, the human resources component, IT resources and the vehicle for the service mediator's travel. assisted digital assistance, as well as telephone support for the scheduling service, while AMA provides the service procedures, the list of services to be made available in the Senior Citizen Space, the training of mediators and technical and functional support.
