Cineteatro Louletano welcomes Maria João, Mário Laginha and Brigada Victor Jara in October

There is a lot to choose from

Concerts by Maria João and Mário Laginha, Expresso Transatlântico, Brigada Victor Jara and Linda Martini, but also theater, dance and cinema. This is what Cineteatro Louletano’s October program will be like. 

The month begins with the Corpo de Hoje Festival, largely dedicated to dance and performance, but which also includes theater. And, in this case, physical theater, on October 1st, at 11 am, with “Catadupa”, a physical theater and music performance by Rita Rodrigues and Ricardo Lopes, at Parque Municipal de Loulé and Tempo das Artes (CECAL).

In “Catadupa”, aimed at children and families, the audience is greeted by a group of hosts with a welcome message and instructions to follow during the performance.

Also on the 1st, Sunday, World Music Day, but at 17pm, at the Cineteatro, Expresso Transatlântico will give the first concert of their debut album, “Ressaca Bailada” in Loulé.

From the 6th to the 8th of October, the 2nd edition of the “Festival Amostra” appears, a co-production in the field of performing arts aimed essentially at programmers, but which also includes sessions for schools. It takes place at Cineteatro Louletano, Palácio Gama Lobo and Tempo das Artes.

The following day, on the 9th, at 21 pm, in the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium, there is a cinema with “El Clavel Negro” (00), by Ulf Hultberg, in partnership with Casa da América Latina. The film is based on the life of Swedish ambassador Harald Edelstam and his fight to help Chilean refugees.

Also on the 9th, and until the 13th, Palácio Gama Lobo hosts a residency co-produced by Cineteatro Louletano. This is “Belongingness”, an artistic project that draws on Raquel André’s work methodology – finding people and telling the stories of these encounters – to create narratives that complicate the idea of ​​identity and belonging.

The following day, the 10th, at 21pm, a unique concert by an iconic group in Portugal. It is the Victor Jara Brigade, which will go to Loulé in partnership with Casa da América Latina.

Also at 21pm, but in the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium, the proposal is cinema, in French, with “Ibrahim” (00), a dramatic comedy by Samir Guesmi.

On the 13th, the “encontros do DeVIR” festival will begin, organized by DeVIR/CAPA and co-produced by Cineteatro Louletano. “Where did we come from? Where are we going?" is the motto of this year's edition, which includes dance, theater, writing, documentary and illustration.

The first show for the general public takes place at 21pm, at Cineteatro Louletano, but there are sessions for secondary schools on the 00th and 12th, at 13:10am.

On the 14th, Saturday, at 21pm, Cineteatro Louletano welcomes Maria João and Mário Laginha, in a concert that brings together two enormous talents in jazz music (and beyond) in Portugal.

On Sunday, the 15th, at 11:30 am, at Cineteatro Louletano, the return of the Promenade Concerts, with the Orquestra do Algarve (OA).

The show will be a mix of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven played by kids, for the whole family, directed by maestro Martim Sousa Tavares and presented, as always, by baritone and mediator Rui Baeta.

Also on the 15th, but in the afternoon, at the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium, an international concert with “Faya Music”, a trio that brings together three instrumentalists who won the Creole Global Music Award in Berlin in 2019. The concert, organized by the Associação Folha de Medronho, brings together Italy, Spain and Germany (the nationalities of the instrumentalists), mixing guitar, drawer, violin, viola, flute and kashaka, on a journey inspired by traditional styles such as Venezuelan polo, Indian Carnatic music or landau Peruvian, among others.

On October 16th, at 14:30 pm, the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II invites all interested parties to a training in Production Planning and Introduction to Team Management Software, in an action aimed mainly at professionals working in cultural facilities or those linked to production areas .

This training, given by André Pato, explores the role of Stage Management as a link between the various artistic and technical teams, reinforcing anticipation and planning, involvement in creative processes and integrated communication between all areas. It takes place at Palácio Gama Lobo, in Loulé, and lasts 180 minutes. Registration must be made through the site until October 9th.

The following Thursday, October 19th, and until the 21st, Loulé hosts the “Political Festival”, which, like last year, brings theater, cinema, shows, music, humor, conversations and installations, with some sessions aimed at schools of the municipality. This festival, which passed through Lisbon in April and also includes Braga and Coimbra, brings to Loulé a sung conversation with “A Garota Não”, as well as a debut in the Algarve, the “Monster Awards of the Year. Almost almost political edition”, presented by announcer and comedian Fernando Alvim.

Also noteworthy is the premiere of the play “Sobre Rosas e Margaridas”, produced by Folha de Medronho, performed by the Brazilian group Oi

The festival also includes a film that can be “seen” by the blind, as it will have Audio Description on the 21st and, among other activities, a guided tour of the Jewish part of the city of Loulé. “Político” will have the Cineteatro as the epicenter of activities, with interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language and which will take place in various locations in the city.

On October 21st, another return, that of the “Crescendo” concerts. To see and hear on the third Saturday of each month, but now at 11:30 am.
Crescendo are a way of getting in touch with the world of Classical (or Classical) Music, through the exhibitions that students from the Loulé Music Conservatory – Francisco Rosado organize in the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium.

On the 22nd, at Cineteatro Louletano, a mega concert for those who like rock: Linda Martini, an iconic band from the Portuguese music scene. Linda Martini bring the show “20 anos de Merda & Ouro” to Loulé, to celebrate two decades on the road and making records.

On the 23rd, another training action, within the Nexos program, promoted by the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II. The action is part of D. Maria II's tour across the country, the National Odyssey and this time focuses on audiences with specific needs. The training, given by Maria Vlachou (Acesso Cultura) and Rita Pires dos Santos, is at 14:30 pm at Palácio Gama Lobo, and focuses not only on the physical barriers that arise for people with specific needs, but also on ways to transform cultural spaces and activities more accessible to everyone, namely through the introduction of interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language (for the Deaf) and Audio Description (for the blind or people with vision impairments).

From the 23rd to the 27th, the workshop “Noite de Verão II”, by Teatro Nova Europa, will take place at Escola Secundária de Loulé, as part of the co-production of the play with the same name, an activity that takes place in the area of ​​Interpretation and Choreography. This event will also be about creation, supporting the play “Summer Night” (October 28), and above all reflecting the aspirations and concerns of teenagers.

On the 25th, at 21pm, another show from the DeVIR festival, a “00 in 4” premiere that includes dance, writing, illustration and a documentary. As in the first round, on the 1th and 12th, this time there are sessions for young people, on the 13th and 24th, at 25:10 am, for the municipality's secondary schools.

Saturday, 28th, the Cineteatro presents the co-production “Noite de Verão”, a play by Teatro Nova Europa that essentially aims to reflect the dreams and concerns of young people, integrating the young participants of the aforementioned workshop into the cast.

And closing the month with a flourish, on October 31st, there will be “José, the Father”, by Elmano Sancho, a co-production that involves six national institutions, including the Cineteatro Louletano, the Teatro Nacional de São João, the Teatro da Trindade and the Teatro das Figuras.
