A 27-year-old young man died today following a motorcycle crash on National Road (EN) 125, in the municipality of Portimão, a Civil Protection source told Lusa.
According to the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, the accident occurred around 9:00 am, on the Portimão road bridge, over the Arade river.
"As a result of the screening, a 27-year-old man, who was the driver of the motorcycle, died," noted the source.
According to the command, for the assistance and rescue operations «it was necessary to cut off road traffic for more than an hour, and circulation has now been re-established».
There were 28 members of the Portimão Fire Brigade, the National Republican Guard, the National Institute of Medical Emergency and the concessionaire company Rotas do Algarve Litoral.
