Two international athletes from Almancilense will participate in the Cycling World Championship which will take place from the 3rd to the 13th of August in Glasgow (Scotland).

The athletes are Bernd Ondrush, who will represent Germany, and Marco Baggioli who will run in the colors of Italy.

At the head of the cycling project at Sociedade Recreativa Almancilense, Nelson Ramos highlights the example that athletes set for children who are taking their first rides.

«Mr Marco Baggioli is a personality of world cycling, having been one of the founders of the team that won two of the last three Tours de France. Having him at the Almancil stadium to work voluntarily with our children is an honor and a privilege for us, which I believe would be appreciated by any sports manager in the world», he says.

This will be the first time that the international association of cycling federations, the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), will organize such a large event.

Within the Cycling World Championship there will be 13 world championships, encompassing various categories, such as street cycling (where athletes from Almancilense compete), BMX freestyle, mountain bike marathon and others.
