Xutos e Pontapés, Vitor Kley, Álvaro de Luna, Wet Bed Gang and Carminho will perform at the Arte Doce Fair which takes place from the 26th to the 30th of July, at the Lagos Sports Complex.

The celebrations of the 450th anniversary of Lagos becoming a city set the tone for the obligatory theme of the confectionery contest, “Lagos – Past, Present and Future”.

In fact, the aspect of competition continues to be at the heart of this event, encouraging confectioners to take advantage of their talent and imagination to present creative sweets that celebrate Algarve confectionery – the competition “Arte Doce” (mandatory theme and free theme, with works exhibited over the five days), competition “Sweets of Innovation” and competition “Quality in Tradition” (best Dom Rodrigo, fine candy, morgado and fig jam).

The winners will be announced throughout the event, with the prize giving taking place on the last day, July 30th.

The space of the enclosure, in the Sports Complex and surrounding area, will also be larger in this edition, allowing the integration of a new lounge area, where you can relax to the sound of music by artists Paulo Ribeiro, Pedro Cestinho and Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve.

This increase will also make it possible to host a greater number of stands compared to previous editions: 35 for sweets (inside the pavilion), 41 for handicrafts, 11 for taverns, 15 trailers and 12 for food products.

For the little ones, the children's space (now called Espaço Doçura ou Travessura) is also back with equipment and workshops.

If you are curious to know how the delicacies are made, the showcookings «they will certainly please, with a demonstration and tasting of recipes such as doce fino and dom rodrigo (ADRA – Associação dos Doces Regionals do Algarve) and an Algarve dish (Teresa Couto)», says the Câmara de Lagos.

This year, Lagos chose Beira Litoral as a guest region, making its presence felt through flavors and handicraft stands, but also showcookings, by chef André Cabrita, and artists who will be on the secondary stage (Arte Doce stage) – Burleskeys and ISECOTUNA.

The concerts have the following programme: Xutos & Pontapés (26th), Vitor Kley (27th), Álvaro de Luna (28th), Wet Bed Gang (29th) and Carminho (30th).

The fair is open from 18 pm to midnight and admission is free.
