Nights in tourist accommodation rose 10% in May to 7,1 million

Comparing with May 2019, there were increases of 40,1% in total revenue and 44,4% in revenue from accommodation

The tourist accommodation sector in Portugal registered 2,8 million guests in May, 12,1% more than in the same month of 2022, and 7,1 million overnight stays, an increase of 10,0%, INE reported today.

According to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), these indicators corresponded to 571,7 million euros in total income and 436,6 million euros in income from accommodation, which represents year-on-year growth of 25,2% and 29,1 .XNUMX%, respectively.

Comparing with May 2019, pre-pandemic period, there were increases of 40,1% in total revenue and 44,4% in revenue from accommodation.

In the INE's highlight, it is also pointed out that the average income per available room and per occupied room reached historic maximums in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Lisbon, of, respectively, 118,8 euros, against the global of 69,8 euros, and 150,5, 112,7 euros, against the average of XNUMX euros.
