Lagoa invested more than 3 million in education in 2022

Hiring of non-teaching staff absorbed more than 810 thousand euros

The Municipality of Lagoa invested, during the year 2022, more than 3,3 million euros in the area of ​​education. 

This is one of the priorities defined by the executive led by Luís Encarnação, who has been focusing more and more on the area of ​​education, applying an “Education for All” policy.

The investment includes expenses with non-teaching staff, student support programmes, diversified educational offer, school transport, meals, extension of working hours and curriculum enrichment, as well as maintenance and equipping of schools in the county.

Of the total amount invested in the education sector, the hiring of non-teaching staff absorbed more than 810 thousand euros. Extended working hours (Family Support Component and Entertainment Activities and Family Support) raised more than 381 thousand euros, while support for general expenses exceeded 260 thousand euros.

Investment in school transport reached 116 thousand euros, with the remaining amount being invested in school social action, equipping schools and in projects to promote specific programs, such as “Portal Bullying”, “Aprender+”, “Lagoa a Read”, “EPIS”.

The promotion of these programs also includes projects in the areas of psychomotricity, psychology, neuropsychology, speech therapy, school mediation, prevention of school violence, music in pre-school and 1st cycle.
